Sometimes you might need to include changes you've made to Firefox in a new installer. This might be a policies.json file, AutoConfig changes or extensions. This document shows how to do that on Windows operating systems.

I have the Firefox beta 84.0b8, which is a universal binary (i.e. This was the first beta build that seemed to finally be very good & stable. Good enough to finally ditch Safari. I copied my profile from my old Mac and I am happy with the performance, though I can't say yet if. Repackage Firefox by running this command in the directory where you unzipped Firefox. 7z a -r -t7z app.7z -mx -m0=BCJ2 -m1=LZMA:d24 -m2=LZMA:d19 -m3=LZMA:d19 -mb0:1 -mb0s1:2 -mb0s2:3 This will create a file called app.7z that contains the changes.

I would almost guarantee that your problem is that Firefox does not really support the M1 Chip yet! The only 2 Browsers that I know of that does actually support it is Chrome (when you down load it will ask you what you have), and of course Safari. Give it time for Mozilla to catch up or use one of those 2 till then. Finally, Firefox 84 is the last version to support Adobe Flash, which will be deprecated at the end of 2020. Download the installer that you want to repackage. Make sure you download a full installer and not a stub installer. The stub installer is typically named 'Firefox Installer.exe' whereas the full installer is named 'Firefox Setup VERSION.exe.' You can download full installer of Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR) from here and of rapid release from here.

Unzip the installer into a directory. You'll need to use 7-zip in order to unzip it.

Make your changes to Firefox in the core subdirectory.

Repackage Firefox by running this command in the directory where you unzipped Firefox.

This will create a file called app.7z that contains the changes.

Download the files 7zSD.Win32.sfx and app.tag and save them in the same directory where the app.7z is located.

Run this command:

to concatenate the files and create the installer.

The “/B” is very important! It tells copy that these are binary files so it doesn’t add extra characters to the files.

The version also updates several bug fixes for the Windows OS version, which addresses several issues that was also observed in the Microsoft-owned platform.

Mozilla Firefox is available for the Apple M1 Mac version, with a native-run silicon version, that incorporates greatly with the company's newly created ARM-based chip.
