Mac revved up patentpolish lip pencil reviews

There’s been some great MAC launches lately and I’ve been lucky enough to share a few of them with you including the MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolours and MAC Viva Glam Ariana Grande. Today I’m back with one more, and I know it’s one the neutral lovers like me have been waiting for, the MAC Ellie Goulding collaboration. I have two of the lip products to review, the MAC Ellie Goulding Patentpolish Lip Pencil in Revved Up* and Plushglass in Explosion*.

Mac Revved Up Patentpolish Lip Pencil

The MAC Ellie Goulding has a lovely range of soft neutral products including two face palettes, a powder blush duo, pink and coral lipsticks, and of course the Patentpolish Lip Pencil in Revved Up and Plushglass in Explosion. As somebody who tends to veer on the safe side of makeup, this collection instantly had my attention. The products all feature a really lovely rose gold Ellie Goulding logo.

MAC Patentpolish Lip Pencils from the left: Revved Up, Ruby, Spontaneous, Sultana and Teen Dream. Apr While at the MAC counter the other week, I remembered reading reviews on the limited edition Patentpolish lip pencils. Knowing that I can’t pass up a good lip crayon, I had to check them out. The first thing I noticed was the dome-shaped tip, which is unique for a lip crayon, as most have a pointed tip.

I clearly don’t talk enough about how much I love lip crayons, so it will come as a shock to you that I was really thrilled to receive the MAC Ellie Goulding Patentpolish Lip Pencil in Revved Up. At least that’s true if you’ve never visited Writing Whimsy before… This formula was previously limited edition but two shades, Revved Up and a nude beige Innocent, are available again for a limited time. The packaging is a jumbo twist up crayon with a rounded tip that does not require sharpening.

The MAC Ellie Goulding Patentpolish Lip Pencil is a semi-sheer peach with a very subtle golden shimmer in it. Since it’s not totally opaque it looks like a peachy-pink when applied to the lips. It applies evenly and with lots of shine, with a comfortable balm-like feel on the lips. There’s the tiniest hint of tackiness but it feels lightweight and clings nicely to the lips.

The MAC Ellie Goulding Patentpolish Lip Pencil in Revved Up has lasts about 2 hours on the lips. It has a familiar MAC vanilla scent but no flavour. I missed out on the Patentpolish Lip Pencils the first time they launched, but I really love this shade and find it very flattering to wear. I paired with the Pur Cosmetics Eye Polish in Velvet.

The MAC Ellie Goulding Plushglass in Explosion comes in a traditional MAC lip gloss packaging with the collaboration logo and doe foot applicator. It is a sheer, shimmery light gold gloss.

The MAC Ellie Goulding Plushglass in Explosion has a strong vanilla scent (I find it stronger than the Patentpolish Lip Pencil) and feels cooling when initially applied to the lips. I find it has a thicker texture and is lightly tacky but not at all gritty despite the shimmer. The consistency means it wears longer than average for a gloss. This is also the lip product I’m wearing in my palette FOTD for the Sephora + Pantone Color of the Year 2016 Rose Quartz & Serenity Collection post, so you can check out how it looks there as well.

My personal pick is definitely the MAC Ellie Goulding Patentpolish Lip Pencil in Revved Up, I have a feeling I’ll be getting even more use out of this as Spring arrives (or as I want to pretend Spring is arriving).
